Project Description
GIS Surveyors provided topographic survey support for a SDG&E project to replace four existing 69kV direct buried transmission lines with a total length of 3600 feet. GIS Surveyors was responsible for coordinating with utility owners to obtain as-built drawings, sketches, and field notes within the survey boundary and conducting field surveys to ensure a quality basemap was produced. GIS Surveyors ensured that all permits and access to private property were obtained prior to commencing field work to prevent project delays.
Throughout the project duration, GIS Surveyors kept open lines of communication with Black and Veatch and SDG&E to ensure all stakeholders were aware of project progress. As a result, the project was delivered within time, quality and cost objectives. The following deliverables were provided to the client:
Basemap in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2015 Format, with appropriate layered information.
Civil 3D 2015 contour surface.
Pothole survey report in Civil3D format.
Key Components
- Boundary and Right of Way determination for the entire project alignment
- All improvements and topographic features surveyed and mapped
- Existing underground utilities and their easements surveyed/delineated
- Survey staking for field locations to resolve utility conflicts with potholing
- Coordination with city and Caltrans to acquire traffic control & pothole permits
- Survey support during the potholing to develop detailed pothole reports/maps
- Easement staking in support of determining required design changes
- Coordination with the city and county to resurface the roadway after potholing
