GIS Surveyors, Inc. was honored to receive a commendation award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) for our work with PSOMAS on the Department of Water Resources (DWR) Levee Parcelization Project.
When the Division of Flood Management needed to know the location, limits, and rights of the State for any of the 9,950 California Central Valley Flood Protection Board (CVFPB) parcels in California’s 1,600 miles of levee flood control system, it could take weeks or months to obtain that information. DWR Geodetic needed this information incorporated into their GIS system in order to respond more quickly.
Using the State’s Land Index Sheets, tracings, data summary sheets, record documents, and many additional cross-referenced record documents, the project team developed resource-grade, survey-ready mapping and a State’s rights geodatabase.
The commendation was presented at the Engineering Excellence Awards at the LA Grand Hotel Downtown and benefitted the ACEC California Scholarship Foundation, a fantastic scheme that supports the bright and promising careers of engineering and land surveying college students.
